C., FEBRUARY 19, 1971 J ♦ ' * * f ' A'fk * * i. *' » ' 5 ' ^ /I “THE ASSEMBLY,” pictured above, will be the f’eatured band at a dance sponsored by the Social Board, Saturday, February 20, from 9:30 to 1:30. There will be no ad mission and the dance will be in the girls’ gym. Also, girls closing hours will be extended to 2:00 a.m. for the occasion. Elections Committee Will Supervise Voting The Elections Committee is in the process of organizing the spring elections this year. To stimulate a wider interest, lucre students will be involved with the election. The Elections Committee wishes to make elections this spring a success never equalled before. Dorm elections will be super vised by an elections commit tee member, who will work hand-in-hand with the dorm president. Also this year hall counselors will be asked to as sist in the elections. It is a new method; but if the old one did not work, then another one must be initiated. Spring elections will begin on April 7th when the students will vote on the new constitu tion. Dave Chestnut and the Constitutional Revision Com mittee are now in the final stages of this document. Dorm Officers will also be elected on 'his date, April 19 will be the day for the election of clasa officers, class representative^ President of the Day Students, and SGA executive officers. The Elections Committee will in the near futoire inform the students.of the exact details. Everyone is urged to partici pate in the spring elections. Liz Taylor And Marlon Brando To Star In Tonight s Movie Allan Wallace, Former Brevard Employee, Dies Allan Wallacb, a former em ployee of Brevard College died Tuesday morning in Tryon, North Carolina. Mr. Wallace came to Brevard in the fall of 1958 and taught drama, speech, journalism, and worked in both the Admission.' and Public Re lations departments here at the college. An accomplished director, Mr, Wallace was Vice President in charge of Radio and T.V. programs for a major network from 1945-58. He helped pro duce ruch programs as FIBBER McGEE AND MOLLY, SKY KING, YANCEY DERRINGER, LIFE WITH FATHER, and THE STEVE ALLEN SHOW. Dean Whicker remember- Mr. Wallace as “quite a re markable fellow, who called a spade a spade.” He moved from Brevard to Tryon several years ago for reasons of health. Funeral services were held in Tryon on Wednesday afternoon. “An army post in peacetime is a dull place,” author Carson McCullers begins her best-sell ing novel, REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE. But this “dull" Southern army bas« is actually seething with the pas sions and frustrations of troubl ed people. Warner Bros. - Seven Arts is releasing the film version of Mrs. McCullers’ poignant nov el with Elizabeth Taylor, Mar lon Brando, Julie Harris and Brian Keith starring in the ex plosive drama. Directed by John Huston and produced by Ray Stark, the drama was film ed in Panavision and in Tech nicolor. The film will be shown in Dunham Auditorium, tonight at 9:30, after the basketball game. “There is a fort in the South where a few years ago a mur der was committed,” Mrs. Mc Cullers’ novel continues. “The participants of this tragedy were two officer?, a soldier, two women, a Filipino, and a horre.” The monotony of the nost life seemingly bred a gar den of neuroses among the resi dents. Marlon Brando portrays Major Weldon Penderton, w'ho has a brilliant service career ahead of him. He is, however, out of control of his bizarre emotions and relationships. Elizabeth Taylor, twice win ner of the Academy Award for Best Actress, portrays Brando’s wife. She is a rather racy, sen suous Southern girl who is passionately fond of horseback riding, eating and other men. Her latest affair is with her neighbor, Lt. Col. Morris Lang- don, played by Brian Keith. He is simple, rather bruti.sh, and like Mrs. Penderton is fond of elemental pleasures. Julie Harris plays the Col onel’s wife. She is a distraught semi - invalid who is pushed closer to an impeding emotion al explosion by her husband’s affair with Leonora. She at tempts to e.scape her problems through a plantonic relation ship with her Fjlipino house- boy, Anacleto, played by Zor- ro David. Robert Forester portrays Private Ellgee Williams, a back- country youth who. night after night, spies on the Penderton house, even penetrating Leon ora’s bedroom to sit at her side and watch her as she sleeps. His presence on the fort unnerves Major Pender ton and infuriates him when he catches the Private in his wife’s bedroom. The movie, sponsored by the Social hoard, will co.st 70 cents for admission. King Smith—Sir Lancelot; Hal Easter — Mordred; Treva Lee — Lady Anne; and Marilyn My- ers — Morgan Le Fey. John Finn will play King Pel- linore; Lindsay Burbage—Sir Sagramore; David Arledge — Squire Dap; Dine Thomas — Tom of Warwick; Forest Reid ^ Merlyn; Carolyn Cox — Nimue; and Larry Swift—^Page. The Knights and Ladies of The show will be directed by Sam Cope, with Rheumma Miller directing the technical aspects. Harvey Miller is train ing the vocalists.
